Croatia: uncertain marina concessions hold back investment in new berths
Croatia's nautical sector met on 22 September at the Nautički turizam Hrvatske 2030 conference, organised by the Croatian Chamber of Economy with Jutarnji list. Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Butković said further investment is needed to keep the country competitive and called the extension of marina concessions difficult, comprehensive work.
Many concessions are close to expiry, so marinas hesitate to fund long-term upgrades. Croatia counts 216 nautical tourism ports and nearly 19,000 berths, with more than €300 million put into piers in recent years; charter brought over 431,000 guests in the first eight months of 2026.
For owners, berth supply and Adriatic prices now depend on how fast the concession question is settled, with Greece and Turkey competing on cost.
